Choose Freedom

Why is it that we feel we should always have to please other people before pleasing ourselves?  This has been bugging me for quite some time now.  Remember when you were a child and were always being told to “be careful,” or “don’t do that,” or “don’t say that.”  Do you cringe now when you hear those words?  I do.  I have two small children and I must admit that it slips out now and again, but when it does, I recognise it straight away.

Think about this for a moment.  It’s like when you were a child out on a bushwalk with your family, and you come to a crossing over some water with rocks as stepping stones.  You are told to “be careful or you might fall in.”  So what happens… you fall in.  If you are told, on the other hand, that you will get an ice-cream when you get to the other side, then there are no slip ups.  Everyone gets across without incident.

Learn to think and live outside the box.  When you hear those words, say to yourself “Who am I being careful for?”  Being careful leaves you in a world of regrets and living in fear of not upsetting anyone or anything.  Be who you are and live your dreams.  You might be pleasantly surprised by the person you’ve been hiding.

Being versus Doing

Sunday
Jan 14,2007

Something we learn from the Landmark Forum is to create a way of being rather than doing certain things.  Doing is a function of the body, whereas being is a function of the soul.

We often think that doing certain things will make us happy, like for example, the work we do or the activities we participate in.  Instead, being a certain way is what will make us truly happy.

You can choose to be happy, sad, ecstatic, depressed, strong or weak.  Do you see the difference?  These are all ways of being and by choosing to be, we can overcome our actions which put us in a state that we sometimes would rather not be in.

Be aware of the ways in which you choose to be and know that in an instant you can be whatever your soul truly desires.  Your life always expresses the result of your most dominant thoughts.

Conversations

Friday
Jan 12,2007

Do you notice when you are in a conversation if you are really listening and present to what the other person is saying?  I mean are you actually putting yourself in their shoes and understanding where they are coming from?  It’s a funny thing conversing with others.  We tend to only hear what we want to hear most of the time and already have an idea in our heads about what we want it to mean before it has even been explained to us.

I was in a workshop a little while back where we had to partner up and each of us had to talk for 5 minutes without the other person saying a word.  The person who was doing the listening could not say anything for that whole 5 minutes.  Try it and see how hard it is to do.  Not just the listening, but the talking too.  The idea was for the listener to be present in the conversation and really get what their partner was talking about.

It’s easy to get distracted to with the busy lives we live today.  There are always a million things to worry about.  Trivial things mostly that stop us from really connecting with one another.  Next time you are in a conversation with someone, stop and think, “am I present in this conversation” and if you are not, you will soon learn to be.

Yours in Prosperity!

The Journey

Thursday
Jan 11,2007

You know, it’s not the goal you set that is the important part of accomplishing your dreams.  It’s all about the  journey and what it takes to get there.  It’s about the person you become while you are heading for that goal.

There will always be challenges that front up and it seems to be like a roller coaster ride.  One minute you are up and everything is going your way.  The next, well down you go, not knowing whether to take the left or right turn, but how you come out at the end is what will make the journey worthwhile.

Life is full of experiences and opportunities that must not be wasted.  You need to be aware of what lies ahead and be ready to take it up or your life will be full of regrets and not knowing.

Let’s consider that you are wanting to invest in property for example, and the deal of a lifetime becomes available to you.  Do you know how long it takes to organise finance? etc.  In order for you to be in a position to snap up the opportunity, you must have everything in place to go ahead when the time comes or it will slip right past you.

By being in a position to take up the opportunities that come your way,  you will be pleasantly surprised at the person you become.  Sometimes it may take some creative thinking on your part and that makes the brain hurt  if you’re not used to it.  Make sure to write things down in a journal as you go.  I was reading through one of my journals not so long ago and was inspired  by the things I had written down that I wanted to achieve and had.

Your wealth will grow only as much as you do.  You are the root of your financial success or failure.  If you work on the roots, the “fruits” will take care of themselves.

Your in Prosperity!

Landmark: An event marking an important stage of development or a turning point in history.

Attending the Landmark Forum has been a wonderful gift for me and I thank my friends Jo Allnutt and Rick Harrison for having the courage and generosity to introduce me to this education.

It is an education for living and I have never before seen in all the seminars I have attended, the transformation of people from Day 1 to Day 3.  Just to give you an idea, Day 1 seems totally boring and no-one gets anything.  Every one has no energy and can’t wait for the day to end.   It’s the longest day ever.  You know what it’s like being in a room with 250 strangers.  Everyone is just checking everyone else out.  All the voices in your head talk to you and say “I don’t want to sit next to him/her”… “I wonder if they’re single?”… “Oh no, late again and I have to sit right up the front… d’oh”.  You get the idea.

So… by Day 3, the atmosphere in the room has totally transformed and you can’t hear the leaders for all the chatter going on.  People are sharing their breakthroughs all over the room.  It has such a positive impact on the lives of people that they leave with a higher sense of motivation and confidence and a real sense of community amongst a sea of strangers.

You get all kinds of people from all walks of  life in the Landmark Forum from professionals to young people, to mums and dads.  In fact, on average, 160,000 people attend this education  every year in locations all over the world!  This is what others are saying:

“Running a business is a complex matter and the heart of any business is people. I have yet to see anything else that has such a positive impact on people’s ability to relate, communicate, and perform as Landmark.”

Paul Fireman
Chairman and CEO
Reebok International, Ltd.
USA

“Call it The Landmark Forum or call it Landmark Education… this is basic training for the mind, the heart, and the soul. It is the most positive transforming experience I’ve ever been a part of. If you want miracles in your life, this is the way.”

Mikio Uekusa, President
Akebono Corporation
Tokyo, Japan

This is very powerful information to have and for what it’s worth, the more people that know about it, the better a place this world will be.  Check it out for yourself.

Yours in generosity!
