My beautiful daughters greeted me this morning with hand-made cards and pressies as well as strawberry jam on toast made by Isabella, yummy!

So as you can gather, I have two talented little girls who I cherish with all my heart. Not only do they make wonderful hand-made cards, but they are following in my footsteps playing around on my Mac and the tools I use. Some more geek girls in the making

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon out at a local cafe with grandmas, aunts, uncles and cousins. It doesn’t happen often and I am glad we made the effort to be together on this special day.

Blessings to all mothers out there who are reading this and my wish for you is that you had an awesome day and were treated like a Queen ( like my friend Paula says).

My role as a Full Time Internet Marketer was realised last Sunday as my story was published in Australian National Newspapers. It all happened rather quickly really – the story that is.  I guess that’s how news happens.

This article appeared on Easter Sunday 2009 in the News Ltd Group National papers.

The last almost 3 years online and what I have learned in that time is one obvious reason. My mentor the Aussie Internet Marketer, Sean Rasmussen (who is basking in the Vanuatu sun as I write this) had a big role to play.

Since announcing a New Product Launch here a few months back, I have been following the Smart Systems Geeky course. Geeky because it’s online and I am, after-all, a Geek Girl Blogger LOL… and note the geeky smile … gasp!

Following a press release, journalist Lorna Knowles from News Ltd called to ask me some questions about my online ventures. Who would give up a chance to be in the National papers I ask you. We had to organise a time for the photographer to come around and take some photos of me. Next came the questions.

Shaun Stenning and Sean Rasmussen now travel around Australia almost every weekend (aside from Tasmania and the Northern Territory) and due to hit the UK in June, with a two day condensed version of the Geekversity course. What you will learn in this two day event:

Whilst it has been school holiday time here, I have been taking time out with the kids so updating has been slim. I hope you all enjoyed your break if you had one and that Santa gave you some nice pressies for Christmas.

This time of year is when families and friends gather together to celebrate the holidays and the spirit of giving is alive and well. I know my two little angels are really looking forward to Christmas morning when they can unwrap and discover new toys and gadgets, clothes and chocolates, books and movies that they have been looking forward to for months.

I received a message today that reminded me of what Christmas means to me most of all. It went something like this…

Hello to all ( : Ange left her laptop open so I decided to sneak a post in before she noticed.

My name’s Michaela. I am Ange’s niece, 14 years young. There’s really not much to write, mainly because I don’t really know what my auntie does on here. But I’m going to say this, Ange is the craziest aunt I have. Meaning crazy in a good way. She loves her family and friends and cares deeply about what’s going on around her. For that, I love and admirer her.

I don’t find her on the adventurous scale, and I somehow don’t think The Kakoda Trail was such a good choice of adventure for her, but I know she’ll survive it ( : I think one of the most caring things she has done in the past is ‘FREE HUGS DAY MELBOURNE’.

She has a strong mind and always has her own opinion. If you dislike well trust me, you’re missing out.

I think I’m done on here. Thanks for reading about my auntie Ange ( : Much love to all, especially the one this is about.

Have you ever felt like you were the only person in the whole universe with a challenge? You may have noticed that I have been absent from Buzzing with Ange a bit lately. To tell you the truth, I lost my creativity and didn’t want to bring you half-baked articles just to keep updating. Instead, I have been meandering along another path away from my laptop and that is the one of further study for my NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) Master Practitioner along with training for the Kokoda Trek!

Aside from that, we, that is my family, have recently found out that my dad needs to have open heart surgery and as I type this, he has been hospitalised due to a series of recurring minor heart attacks and we are waiting to hear when he will be able to have the procedure done. Needless to say, it has put us all on standby wondering what the outcome will be.

Through all this, I have learned something about myself and that is that I am not the super emotionally strong person I thought I was. Does this mean that I have failed? No, not at all! In fact, what is has done is made me aware of the vulnerabilities that we as humans all have and that is that when someone close to us that we love faces a life threatening challenge, we start asking the questions why. After all, my dad is a very fit man and at the age of 78, he walks 60 kms per week!

The thing is to not ask why, but rather, how do we adapt to make this experience go as smoothly as possible while maintaining a positive outlook so as to keep my dad’s spirits up and help him as best we can through this challenge?


This Is How We Grow

While being empathic to his reality, I think the best thing I can do is spend time with him and ask questions so that I can learn as much as I can about him… I’m sure there are many things that I do not know about my dad and at the same time, tell him how I feel about him. Use the time to really bond and I think I am sounding like this is the end for him, and I’m sure it isn’t, but what an opportunity to get even closer than I was before! My point is that sometimes we leave things unsaid and then have regrets that we shoulda coulda woulda done this that and the other. I have heard it too many times before and I would rather not be left in that situation so speak now before it is too late.

This way of thinking can apply to anyone in our lives who we may be needing to discuss things with. What I mean is to not let emotions hold you back from speaking up about something or clearing the air if need be. I’m thinking in particular about forgiveness and emotional intelligence which goes a long way towards your personal development. Being consciously aware of our reactions to particular people or circumstances and coming to an agreement with ourselves or others, helps us keep things in perspective and not make up stories about it… after all, your reality will differ from the next person’s reality. We all have a different view of life and whatever your beliefs, it is the right one for you. Remember though that holding onto negative thoughts you have without either writing them down or talking about them with someone, will only make you the victim so please, if you have something to say then say it.

I know I am not the first person to be faced with this situation and I won’t be the last. So, I am not looking for sympathy here, rather, I would like to ask what are some of the things you may have tried in a similar situation which worked for you and your family to get you through a time like this?

What is the buzz with Ange? Well Ange has been absent from here lately and it is partly due to technical issues and partly due to being locked up with a project which will surface next week. Right now, I am here to inform you that Ange will be attending a 4 day Education for Life seminar with Jamie McIntyre right here in her home town of Melbourne starting tomorrow, so she will be absent for a little while longer while she learns the following:

Have you ever wanted to know more about the authors of blogs and some random facts about them? Well, just for fun, I thought I would take up the challenge from the gorgeous Diane over at Much of a Muchness. Diane has a great blog about Handmade Books and Design for all you crafty people out there and her books are displayed on each post. She uses the most stunning array of papers to cover her books and well worth taking the time to visit.

So here are seven random facts about me that I don’t think I have ever shared here before…

1. I come from a musical family… both my brothers have played in bands and my parents and sister all sing and play instruments too. When I was seven years old, I took up piano lessons and continued for about 12 years. Although I had all those lessons, I haven’t played for a very long time and it’s not high on the list of my priorities these days. If you follow the link to the band, there is a playlist from their last gig where I was asked to join the band on stage and play the tambourine along to the song Black Betty. Imagine!!

2. I have learned how to draw charts of stocks using candlestick bars and can read a chart and follow patterns. Interestingly enough, if you take 5 years of monthly charts of a very well established stock and lay them along side each other, you will see history repeating itself. These days I use software to look at my charts so although the drawing days have gone, the lesson came in very handy indeed.

3. You may have read that I am an adrenalin junkie and I am also addicted to chocolate and cashew nuts… can’t get enough and them and it has to be the right kind of chocolate like Cadbury’s or Lindt… yummy!

4. Unlike Diane, if you read her post, she stated that she cannot reverse park and is having lessons from her son. I on the other hand have it down pat as my driving instructor made sure I did before she would let me go and sit my driving test. Thanks Sabina (my instructor) who also taught 3 of my cousins, my mum and one of my brothers to drive.

5. My most favourite movie of all time is ET. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was about 14 years young and just could not stop crying at the end. I have always had a fascination with Aliens and believe that they are around, just watching us humans and sitting back laughing most of the time. What do you think?

6. Although I love technology, it takes me some time to nut out new software and learn how to use it. I do not like reading instructions and much prefer to go about clicking this and that until I find a way that suits my way of doing things. (Truth be told, most of the time, I can’t follow the instructions!) I do get it after a while. My iPod is great for transferring music and audiobooks or podcasts onto and I wouldn’t be without my mobile broadband to check on things if I am away from my laptop.

7. I volunteer a little of my time online for the worthy cause Invisible Youth Network. Invisible Youth is an organization endeavoring to make a difference by providing human, material and monetary resources for abused, homeless and at risk youth and related programs. Russell Hartshaw who was once homeless himself, is the Chairman and Founder of this organisation. My efforts at recruiting have been very random of late and if you are interested in helping in some way, please do… either by raising awareness of the cause or donating to it if you so desire.

Yes… I am back home now and as much as it’s great to go away… it’s also great to come back home. I have had some time to think through things for this coming year and will get to posting some more on emotional intelligence and other mind bending subjects to make you think very soon.

This video I am posting today is something that makes me feel connected with you. Although we are in different places all over the world, I believe we are one. This project was put together by a community of 40 people who only know each other through cyberspace. Is this something that makes you feel connected too?
