Enthusiasm

“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” Charles Kingsley

A source or cause of great excitement or interest.  This is what enthusiasm means.  It is a great word.  Do you remember as a child when you used to ask mum and dad about your birthday and how long you had to wait to have your birthday party?  You would start making a list of who you wanted to invite and mum used to cut  you off before you invited the whole neighbourhood?  Then you would start on your list of what you wanted for presents and it would include every thing from a bike to the latest electronic games.

Now as an adult, I still get enthusiastic about my birthday as I always get great presents.  I also get enthusiastic about when my next seminar is coming up and start preparing well in advance to organise things at home while I am away.   I am always on the trail for more knowledge and being in a room full of people who are like-minded.  It is a powerful place to be in when you are committed to the cause.

What are some of the things you get excited about?  Make yourself a list and be enthusiastic about all that life has to offer.  We are on this planet to live a life that we love and not just make a living.

Recently, one of my friends was on  his way to a meeting and had to kill 45 minutes waiting for his train and he decided to make a difference to the lives of some of the other waiting passengers.  He went across to the 7-eleven and bought a bunch of flowers with the intention of brightening up someone’s day.  He wondered around the station and saw a girl who didn’t look very happy so he approached her and asked if she would like a bunch of flowers.  Her face just beamed with delight and so he handed her the flowers.  It made him feel great and so then he became even more enthusiastic and went to buy another bunch.  He gave away three bunches of flowers that night because he got excited about making a difference in the lives of others.

This is just an example of how one person’s enthusiasm can make a difference.  What can you be enthusiastic about?
