@Allan ... that's a great perspective to have... so true!

@Durano ... certainly the way we treat and speak to our children is very important.... we must empower them to believe in themselves and let their own creativity and dreams lead them to be teachers for the next generation.

Affirmations around our beliefs is what helps us grow stronger and it teaches us also to love ourselves... without having respect and love for oneself leads to bitter disappointments in life and the ongoing complaining that is prevalent in our society today. If only more people would use them... imagine what the world would be like!

@Bridget ... I know what you mean by 'state of mind'... it is a rocking combo to use affirmations and take action to make it so... and I loved your latest diary post... you go girl!! wooo hoooo..........

@Tamara ... thanks for stopping by. You have a great blog and I was happy to post about it :)

@Tondy ... it's lovely to have you back!! There will be times when emotions get the better of us and pull us down or away from what is important. Glad I could be of help :)

Great post. Bridget likes.

What about her? She's on the way to achieve the life she wants! However, Bridget does not tend to say these affirmations to herself, it's more a 'state of mind' she slips in. Not sure how to explain it Angie.

In any case, affirmations are great to create the right mindset and an upbeat disposition. When coupled with ACTION, it's a rocking combo!

Bridget's latest rocking combo has been diarised, I dare say Angie will like ha!

Hi Ange,

I agree with the affirmations 100%.

I have always maintained that a lot of what we were taught to believe ought to be questioned and examined. Some of these have been proven wrong or were false all along. I am for teaching positive things too, when communicating with children most specially, because once a belief about themselves enters their brain, and they accept it; they act as if it were true-until it actually becomes true.

Behavior is a great way of looking at a person's positive outlook or lack of it. Limitations of our abilities have been defined by our belief in such boundaries, rather than our belief in our capacity to accomplish. The human brain is the most powerful computer ever built, and no man made computer can match its capability. That is how good each and every person is. But the belief always skews towards perceived limitations. This is the sad part.

Beliefs are either those we convince ourselves to be true about ourselves or those we accepted from those we trust and believe in. That is why parenting is so important, because we have to tell our children the truth always in a positive vein, and it is difficult. We have to encourage them, support them, and let them grow with confidence in themselves and their ability; rather than impose our ideas of success and career paths which we may believe, but which they do not really adhere to. Following our advice may lead to doubts about their own abilities as it runs contrary to their gut level feelings.

Affirmations are strong Ange, and I have no arguments against these. But beliefs are more powerful. It is having a lot of faith in yourself and what has been given to you by God, however you perceive Him to be. It is as old as time and as true as eternity. The Secret is a re-marketing of this concept, but it is a good reminder as such things need to be reiterated in a way that adapts to the need of the times. I'm glad that more people are into it because it is good for humanity.

As the first post I have read in your site said, "We are one", this needs reaffirmation, and accepted as a valid belief for all mankind.

HI Ange

Great Post!

This is exactly Mandy's thinking which led to her Photo Gift business - a stay at home mum and wanting to still be able to control her own timetable, work when she wanted to, take time for the kids - school plays etc when she wanted too - basically master of her own destiny.

SO now she has a great online business which yes means long hours and usually weekends but when you're doing it for yourself, you don't mind!

Hi Ange,

Thanks for another great post.

Affirmations are great, and really need to be combined with:

Thankfulness for what we have now - family, friends, freedom and so on.

Expectation that as we grow, so will our resources.

Willingness to help others achieve their goals.

I feel that in this way, the affirmations become a part of us.

Cheers
