Play and Feed Hungry People

As I mentioned in my last post, Twitter is a great place to get and share information with your friends. About one week ago, Ed Dale twitted this site and it went viral in no time. I must admit, it can get addictive and I have been one of those addicts.

So what am I talking about – you’re thinking. I am talking about a word game where every word you get right donates 10 grains of rice for the hungry via the United Nations.

FreeRice dot com was launched on the 7th of October, yes – just last month, and to date, there has been , 1,330,639,890 grains of rice donated.

How to Play the Game

So how does this game work. Well straight from the website, here it is:

  • Click on the answer that best defines the word.
  • If you get it right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word.
  • For each word you get right, we donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.

They do offer a WARNING: This game may make you smarter. It may improve your speaking, writing, thinking, grades, job performance… (more)

Check it out and have fun :)

… by the way… what do you think of my face-lift?

  1. Ange,

I know what your talking about. Somebody sent me to that site and I actually played the game for about 8 words (sidenote: Got them all right.)

Really cool concept and I sent it to maybe 10 of my friends. So to your point….It spreads.

    Thanks
    Greg

Hey Greg! thanks for stopping by. I have a go at least once a day and have to set a timer or I could keep going and going! So far I think I have donated almost 1000 grains of rice. I don’t think that mounts to very much, but the site has only been going for a short time and it’s attracting many visitors by the looks of things so keep it going :)

Thanks for stopping by Fauzan :)

Every little bit helps and if we take the time to do a couple of minutes once a day, it can add up to lots of grains of rice!
