Follow Your Passion

Since the year 2006, I have been in the Follow Your Passion mode. 2006 was the year I stopped working a J.O.B. and chose to stay home and create an income doing what I loved. I thought I knew what it was but as I discovered later, my first business idea wasn’t right for me. My personal development journey was only just beginning.

It wasn’t easy at first but that didn’t deter me from having a go. As you do (or rather, a lot of people do), I stumbled into Network Marketing. Now the product was a great product in the health industry. I learned a lot about health and nutrition and how to best care for my young children by attending the meetings. The biggest thing I learned was all the harmful ingredients which are added to everyday bathroom and household products that changed our lifestyle for the better.

ImageChef.com

I still use the products for myself and my family even today, however, it wasn’t my cup of tea to nag (or that’s what it felt like) all my friends and family and get them to sign up. No matter what the product promised, it wasn’t easy growing my downline. That’s how Network Marketers refer to the people who sign up under them. After 6 months, I decided to try something else and the opportunity was staring me right in the face.

Home Based Business

I started surfing the web looking for ways to make money online. Working from Home were the keywords I kept searching for and guess what? Working from Home or home based business are the most searched keywords of all time! Fascinating isn’t it. Especially when you think of the current economic situation and people being retrenched from their jobs. I’m not saying that working from home is for everyone but there are many different jobs, or ways to make money by being at home, that the opportunities are endless if you really sit and think about what you love doing.

Ange's Home Office

One example I found the other day was a local woman who is willing to walk dogs, take care of puppies and be a general dog-sitter. If you love dogs, then there’s something to think about.

Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow

My girls were watching a Bratz movie before school this morning and there was a line which stood out for me that prompted me to write this article.

A character who had an estranged relationship with her mother said the words, well not everyone gets to follow their passion and I thought to myself, uh uh, everyone can follow their passion. They just have to be really, really passionate about their idea and not listen to the nay-sayer’s who want to bring them down or tell them they are wasting their time and stick to a real job. What is a real job nowadays anyway?

Whether it be to work from home or be the best employee or even be the best boss! Wherever your passion lies, follow your passion, do what you love and the money will follow.

Guest Authors

Over the coming weeks I will be introducing you to a fabulous team of people who are following their passions and started working from home. Some part-time and some full-time. I’ll let them tell their story for you.

I’ve been working closely with this team for the past 8 months and I’d like for you to get to know some of my friends, both offline and online, so look out for some special guest authors for the first time here on Buzzing with Ange.

We have been studying a book called Reprogramming the Mind for Success and in doing so, have connected and grown as a team. The book itself is written by Dean Whittingham, whom I have met personally. Dean wrote the book after his parents won the Lottery and lost it all within a very little space of time. In it Dean includes meditation exercises and talks about how to prevent procrastination, build better relationships, creat a better self image and improve your health and wealth creation.

So I look forward to you getting to know my friends and enjoying reading their stories.

The Secret Law of Attraction

Tuesday
Nov 11,2008

Over the last few weeks I have been aware more so than ever about the Law of Attraction. In life, we are all thrown challenges and the important thing to consider is how we deal with the challenges set upon us.

Occasionally we may just want to run and hide however, this does not make the challenge go away. Facing a challenge head on is the only way to resolve it.

You may remember back a few months ago when I broke my wrist while trekking the Kokoda Track. This made me face quite a few challenges. Afterall, having the use of only one arm is something I have not had to deal with before. One very perfect thing that came out of my broken wrist was the fact that my youngest daughter found her independence as there were many things I could not do for her. The fact that she would be starting school next year was looking a little dubious because she was always a bit reserved and would be considered one of the youngest in her class, seeing her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Today, she wants nothing more than to start school and seeing how much she has blossomed over the last 4 months indicates she will do very well.

Aside from the broken wrist, I have also had to deal with a big corporation (who won’t be named here) who quite literally took some money (a large enough amount) from me for which I have never received any goods or services! I won’t go into the boring details here suffice as to say that when you think you are right and the universal powers seem to not work with you, you have to question why.

The reason I have come up with is because I did not pay attention and I ended up in a big mess. This mess is something that I know will be resolved soon due to legal proceedings and the fact that I have reversed my way of thinking towards it. I have taken responsibility for this and although it has taken plenty of hours of research, phone calls and emails back and forth, I truly believe that whatever the outcome is on D-Day, it will be for my benefit.

My friend Sean Rasmussen released an edited version of the famous Wallace D. Wattles classic The Science of Getting Rich a month a go and named it The Secret Law of Attraction which is available as a free download without any opt-ins so right-click on the image below to save it on your computer.

The Secret LAw of Attraction

Reading this book has reminded me that we need only ask and take action towards reaching our goals and making the things we want to happen to us in life happen. Feeling victimized never helped anyone and once I got over the whole “oh woe is me” attitude to the challenges I faced, my whole life turned around.

You know, none of us are perfect in that we always attract the “right” things in life, and manifesting is something we do very well. We may not realize it however, everything that comes our way is because we attract it - good and bad - so as they say, be careful what you wish for. We can go for months on a high and everything seems to go according to plan. If we waiver even a fraction to feeling down and staying there, then all things seem as they are falling apart.

The important thing is to know what you’re thinking and how it makes you act and react to challenges. Coming from a place of love rather than hate makes the biggest difference in the world to the outcomes we achieve.

Another thing is not to keep things to yourself. Really! If you have a partner/husband/wife to share with do so. If it’s your brother or sister or other family member that you trust, do so. Sharing with someone close to you not only helps get it off your chest, but could also help you to see the situation in a different light. It can help you to see a clearer picture. Please share with someone you trust so that they can help you from a place of love. This is important as the last thing you need is to attract is more of the stuff that will not be beneficial to you.

Shit happens in life. It’s what you choose to do about it that makes all the difference. I can’t be more clear than this.

I will leave you to watch this video regarding the Law of Attraction in case you need reminding of how wonderful life CAN be.

As a follow-up to my entry on Dr John Demartini for Jenny Mannions Heroes of Healing group writing project, I would like to give you an insight into Dr John Demartini’s journey and how he came to be what I believe to be a Hero of Healing. I’m writing this as a request from the lovely Oza Meilleur who commented on the first article.

The Journey Begins

Having attended the Breakthrough Experience with Dr John Demartini as well as some of his other events, he does like to recount his story and it is quite an amazing journey. You will remember that I talked a little on his background and that when he was in first grade, his teacher knew little about disabilities so she asked his parents to come to class and in front of him, she told them that their son had a learning disability, that he was dyslexic. He could not read and comprehend what she was teaching and would probably do better in sports. Although John couldn’t fully understand the significance of her words, he sensed his parents’ uncertainty and concern.

At the age of 14, he told his father that he was going to go surfing in California so seeing how sincere John was about this, his dad gave him his blessing, drove him to the freeway and told him to “Go follow your dreams.”

John’s First Mentor

Hitchhiking from his home town of Richmond, Texas, he arrived in El Paso. While walking through the town, he spotted three cowboys just up ahead and they looked just like rednecks to him. As he got closer to them, with his headband and surfboard, he knew he was going to be confronted so as he approached, they lined up across the sidewalk and stood with their thumbs in their belts.

What to do… what to do he thought when all of a sudden, for the very first time, his inner voice spoke to him and it told him to bark! We all broke out in giggles with anticipation at what was about to happen next! So he told us that he went along with it and started to bark, ruff! ruff! ruff! (repeated a few times).

As he did this, we were in fits of laughter. He said that he growled his way through those cowboys and for the first time in his life, he learned that if he trusted his intuition, amazing things would happen. I have to tell you it was hilarious sitting and listening to John recount this story. Actually, I’m having a bit of a giggle remembering… LOL!

Having growled his way through, he walked on a little further and as he came up to the corner, leaning on a lamppost, roaring with laughter, was a bald headed bum in his 60’s. He was laughing so hard that he had to hang on to the lamppost for support!

This “bum” told John that it was the funniest thing he had ever seen as he put his hand on his shoulder and walked him down the street to buy him a drink of coke.

Once they had finished their drinks and John had told him why he dropped out of school to go surfing, the “bum” told John to follow him and he lead him through the doors of the downtown El Paso library.

He sat John down at a table and went sifting through the bookshelves. He came back with a couple of books and sat down. “There are two things I want to teach you” he said, “two things I don’t want you ever to forget. You promise?” and John replied “yes, I do sir.”

The first thing was to never judge a book by it’s cover because it will fool you. You see, this “bum” was one of the wealthiest men in America. He had planes, houses, cars, everything that money could buy. Someone dear to him passed away the year before and as he reflected on his life, he thought he has experienced everything except the experience of having nothing and living on the streets, so he made a commitment to travel around America with nothing so he could have this experience before he died.

The second thing was for John to learn how to read, because there’s only two things that the world can’t take away from you and that is your love and your wisdom. The two books he had placed on the table for John were the works of Aristotle and Plato. Imagine! And with that, the “bum” led him down the street a couple of blocks and sent him on his way to California.

The core of The Breakthrough Experience has become: Love and Wisdom are the essence of Life.

Dr John Demartini says:

Wisdom is the instantaneous recognition that a crisis is a blessing, and even greater wisdom recognizes that blessings can also trigger a crisis. When we truly understand that, we’re less likely to be upset about our difficulties or elated about our opportunities; we remain centered no matter what happens around us. That is one of the secrets of self-mastery.

The Journey Continues

Surfing and bumming his way around California, John finds accommodation opposite a health-food store. He walks in to buy a carrot juice one day to find a man talking about philosophy and of course, he couldn’t help himself so he sat with this man and had a full on discussion with him.

They went on back to John’s house to exchange some more philosophy for martial arts lessons and the martial arts lessons weren’t the only thing John learned that day.

As this man was bating John to attack him, with every move John made he was beaten. He threw punches, kicked him and more and still, with very attempt, John still couldn’t touch him. So he stood back, out of breath and sweating and asked, okay, what’s the lesson here? The man replied, to a master, there is no such thing as attacks, only invitations to dance. But if you’re unsure, you always perceive yourself to be a victim of attacks.

Hmmm… now there’s something to think about. Another lesson in self-mastery.

Awesomeness

Some time after this, John went on to study physics, metaphysics, theology, biology… I think he has studied every “ology” there is to study, along with every religion there is - that’s about 3000 odd - and even more. The last 35 years of his life, John has devoted to learning and teaching the knowledge he has gained through his studies which he has then applied throughout his products. I do know he has a goal of reaching one billion people through his books and events, radio shows, courses he has written and so on. Now I don’t know about you but that is some extraordinary goal! Imagine having the ability and resources to reach one billion people! Pure awesomeness in my book.

Face Challenges Head On

The moral of the story is not to let what other people think of you hold you back. For every challenge you face there is an opportunity to grab hold of. That’s life. Everything is balanced. If Dr John Demartini had taken notice of his first grade teacher and believed he was dyslexic, it could have turned out differently and we would not know this wonderful teacher who has devoted his life to helping others. If those mentors had not crossed his path, he may have never learned how to read and taken an interest in philosophy. I really am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and we must take the challenges given us and turn them into an opportunity.

Two years ago I was introduced to Dr John Demartini at a Melbourne event and what he spoke about that night really resonated with me. Since then, I have read and studied John’s material and I am writing this special post to add to Jenny Mannions Heroes of Healing Group Writing Project.

Dr. John Demartini is a world leading behavioral expert, speaker and author at the forefront of the burgeoning personal and professional development industry.

He is a philosopher, teacher and healer and his purpose is to step foot on every country of this earth and help people realise they can be magnificent and live inspiring lives.

John has developed methodologies and principles to help people express love and not in a romantic way but in a universal understanding that there is synthesis and synchronicity of complimentary opposites and everything else is an illusion.

At age 7, his parents were told that he would never read, write or communicate so he turned to the sporting field. At age 14, he was a high school dropout and asked his parents if he could go surfing in California. They agreed and they dropped him off on the highway and sent him on his way.

Dr John Demartini and Ange Recchia

This photo was taken at the Breakthrough Experience weekend I attended in Melbourne September 2006.

Today, John travels the world speaking on 300 days of the year and is very passionate about helping others to find a balance in their lives and have gratitude for everything they have which in turn lets them attract more of what they do want in their lives.

My most favourite Dr John Demartini quote is:

No Matter what I’ve done or not done, I’m worthy of Love

What Ange has learned from Dr John Demartini

What I have learned from Dr John Demartini is that Joy and Gratitude are the most important emotions we can have. All of us have different values in life and if something supports our values, we class them as good. If something challenges our values, we tend to avoid them. If our life is being supported, we feel joy and if it’s being challenged, we feel sorrow.

Sorrow is an assumption of a loss we are striving for and we suffer because what we strive for is unobtainable.

Joy and sorrow show up in every action and the synthesis and synchronicity of these these two emotions are fulfillment which is Love. Gratitude is when we can embrace joy and sorrow at the same time.

Method to Feeling of Gratitude

John taught me this really simple method on how to go about feeling gratitude which I will share with you. Before you go to bed at night, reflect and review your day and anything you can’t say thankyou for, look at it from a more whole perspective until you can. Then in your own mind, run through all the things you can be grateful for and don’t stop doing this until you have a tear of gratitude for all the areas of your life.

A tear of gratitude washes your mind from any delusion you may hold which you can then be grateful for. The moment you do this, go to your innermost being and ask for inner guidance like:

What mission do you have for me, what direction do you have for me, what am I supposed to do next?

Ask this series of questions every night and document your answers. Once you start doing this, your mission or purpose will become clear.

In the morning, then plan your day. Any details you leave out of your life, someone else will fill in so you might as well fill out the day the way you would love it to be so you know exactly what you are up for.

When the voice and the vision on the inside is louder and more profound than the opinions on the outside, then you begin to master your life and do something extraordinary and magnificent!

Here is a video of Dr John Demartini speaking about Gratitude.
