Follow Your Passion

Since the year 2006, I have been in the Follow Your Passion mode. 2006 was the year I stopped working a J.O.B. and chose to stay home and create an income doing what I loved. I thought I knew what it was but as I discovered later, my first business idea wasn’t right for me. My personal development journey was only just beginning.

It wasn’t easy at first but that didn’t deter me from having a go. As you do (or rather, a lot of people do), I stumbled into Network Marketing. Now the product was a great product in the health industry. I learned a lot about health and nutrition and how to best care for my young children by attending the meetings. The biggest thing I learned was all the harmful ingredients which are added to everyday bathroom and household products that changed our lifestyle for the better.

I still use the products for myself and my family even today, however, it wasn’t my cup of tea to nag (or that’s what it felt like) all my friends and family and get them to sign up. No matter what the product promised, it wasn’t easy growing my downline. That’s how Network Marketers refer to the people who sign up under them. After 6 months, I decided to try something else and the opportunity was staring me right in the face.

Home Based Business

I started surfing the web looking for ways to make money online. Working from Home were the keywords I kept searching for and guess what? Working from Home or home based business are the most searched keywords of all time! Fascinating isn’t it. Especially when you think of the current economic situation and people being retrenched from their jobs. I’m not saying that working from home is for everyone but there are many different jobs, or ways to make money by being at home, that the opportunities are endless if you really sit and think about what you love doing.

One example I found the other day was a local woman who is willing to walk dogs, take care of puppies and be a general dog-sitter. If you love dogs, then there’s something to think about.

Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow

My girls were watching a Bratz movie before school this morning and there was a line which stood out for me that prompted me to write this article.

A character who had an estranged relationship with her mother said the words, well not everyone gets to follow their passion and I thought to myself, uh uh, everyone can follow their passion. They just have to be really, really passionate about their idea and not listen to the nay-sayer’s who want to bring them down or tell them they are wasting their time and stick to a real job. What is a real job nowadays anyway?

Whether it be to work from home or be the best employee or even be the best boss! Wherever your passion lies, follow your passion, do what you love and the money will follow.

Guest Authors

Over the coming weeks I will be introducing you to a fabulous team of people who are following their passions and started working from home. Some part-time and some full-time. I’ll let them tell their story for you.

I’ve been working closely with this team for the past 8 months and I’d like for you to get to know some of my friends, both offline and online, so look out for some special guest authors for the first time here on Buzzing with Ange.

We have been studying a book called Reprogramming the Mind for Success and in doing so, have connected and grown as a team. The book itself is written by Dean Whittingham, whom I have met personally. Dean wrote the book after his parents won the Lottery and lost it all within a very little space of time. In it Dean includes meditation exercises and talks about how to prevent procrastination, build better relationships, creat a better self image and improve your health and wealth creation.

So I look forward to you getting to know my friends and enjoying reading their stories.

Over the last few weeks I have been aware more so than ever about the Law of Attraction. In life, we are all thrown challenges and the important thing to consider is how we deal with the challenges set upon us.

Occasionally we may just want to run and hide however, this does not make the challenge go away. Facing a challenge head on is the only way to resolve it.

You may remember back a few months ago when I broke my wrist while trekking the Kokoda Track. This made me face quite a few challenges. Afterall, having the use of only one arm is something I have not had to deal with before. One very perfect thing that came out of my broken wrist was the fact that my youngest daughter found her independence as there were many things I could not do for her. The fact that she would be starting school next year was looking a little dubious because she was always a bit reserved and would be considered one of the youngest in her class, seeing her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Today, she wants nothing more than to start school and seeing how much she has blossomed over the last 4 months indicates she will do very well.

Aside from the broken wrist, I have also had to deal with a big corporation (who won’t be named here) who quite literally took some money (a large enough amount) from me for which I have never received any goods or services! I won’t go into the boring details here suffice as to say that when you think you are right and the universal powers seem to not work with you, you have to question why.

The reason I have come up with is because I did not pay attention and I ended up in a big mess. This mess is something that I know will be resolved soon due to legal proceedings and the fact that I have reversed my way of thinking towards it. I have taken responsibility for this and although it has taken plenty of hours of research, phone calls and emails back and forth, I truly believe that whatever the outcome is on D-Day, it will be for my benefit.

My friend Sean Rasmussen released an edited version of the famous Wallace D. Wattles classic The Science of Getting Rich a month a go and named it The Secret Law of Attraction which is available as a free download without any opt-ins so right-click on the image below to save it on your computer.

Reading this book has reminded me that we need only ask and take action towards reaching our goals and making the things we want to happen to us in life happen. Feeling victimized never helped anyone and once I got over the whole “oh woe is me” attitude to the challenges I faced, my whole life turned around.

You know, none of us are perfect in that we always attract the “right” things in life, and manifesting is something we do very well. We may not realize it however, everything that comes our way is because we attract it – good and bad – so as they say, be careful what you wish for. We can go for months on a high and everything seems to go according to plan. If we waiver even a fraction to feeling down and staying there, then all things seem as they are falling apart.

The important thing is to know what you’re thinking and how it makes you act and react to challenges. Coming from a place of love rather than hate makes the biggest difference in the world to the outcomes we achieve.

Another thing is not to keep things to yourself. Really! If you have a partner/husband/wife to share with do so. If it’s your brother or sister or other family member that you trust, do so. Sharing with someone close to you not only helps get it off your chest, but could also help you to see the situation in a different light. It can help you to see a clearer picture. Please share with someone you trust so that they can help you from a place of love. This is important as the last thing you need is to attract is more of the stuff that will not be beneficial to you.

Shit happens in life. It’s what you choose to do about it that makes all the difference. I can’t be more clear than this.

I will leave you to watch this video regarding the Law of Attraction in case you need reminding of how wonderful life CAN be.

As a follow-up to my entry on Dr John Demartini for Jenny Mannions Heroes of Healing group writing project, I would like to give you an insight into Dr John Demartini’s journey and how he came to be what I believe to be a Hero of Healing. I’m writing this as a request from the lovely Oza Meilleur who commented on the first article.

The Journey Begins

Having attended the Breakthrough Experience with Dr John Demartini as well as some of his other events, he does like to recount his story and it is quite an amazing journey. You will remember that I talked a little on his background and that when he was in first grade, his teacher knew little about disabilities so she asked his parents to come to class and in front of him, she told them that their son had a learning disability, that he was dyslexic. He could not read and comprehend what she was teaching and would probably do better in sports. Although John couldn’t fully understand the significance of her words, he sensed his parents’ uncertainty and concern.

At the age of 14, he told his father that he was going to go surfing in California so seeing how sincere John was about this, his dad gave him his blessing, drove him to the freeway and told him to “Go follow your dreams.”

John’s First Mentor

Hitchhiking from his home town of Richmond, Texas, he arrived in El Paso. While walking through the town, he spotted three cowboys just up ahead and they looked just like rednecks to him. As he got closer to them, with his headband and surfboard, he knew he was going to be confronted so as he approached, they lined up across the sidewalk and stood with their thumbs in their belts.

What to do… what to do he thought when all of a sudden, for the very first time, his inner voice spoke to him and it told him to bark! We all broke out in giggles with anticipation at what was about to happen next! So he told us that he went along with it and started to bark, ruff! ruff! ruff! (repeated a few times).

As he did this, we were in fits of laughter. He said that he growled his way through those cowboys and for the first time in his life, he learned that if he trusted his intuition, amazing things would happen. I have to tell you it was hilarious sitting and listening to John recount this story. Actually, I’m having a bit of a giggle remembering… LOL!

Having growled his way through, he walked on a little further and as he came up to the corner, leaning on a lamppost, roaring with laughter, was a bald headed bum in his 60′s. He was laughing so hard that he had to hang on to the lamppost for support!

This “bum” told John that it was the funniest thing he had ever seen as he put his hand on his shoulder and walked him down the street to buy him a drink of coke.

Once they had finished their drinks and John had told him why he dropped out of school to go surfing, the “bum” told John to follow him and he lead him through the doors of the downtown El Paso library.

He sat John down at a table and went sifting through the bookshelves. He came back with a couple of books and sat down. “There are two things I want to teach you” he said, “two things I don’t want you ever to forget. You promise?” and John replied “yes, I do sir.”

The first thing was to never judge a book by it’s cover because it will fool you. You see, this “bum” was one of the wealthiest men in America. He had planes, houses, cars, everything that money could buy. Someone dear to him passed away the year before and as he reflected on his life, he thought he has experienced everything except the experience of having nothing and living on the streets, so he made a commitment to travel around America with nothing so he could have this experience before he died.

The second thing was for John to learn how to read, because there’s only two things that the world can’t take away from you and that is your love and your wisdom. The two books he had placed on the table for John were the works of Aristotle and Plato. Imagine! And with that, the “bum” led him down the street a couple of blocks and sent him on his way to California.

The core of The Breakthrough Experience has become: Love and Wisdom are the essence of Life.

Dr John Demartini says:

Wisdom is the instantaneous recognition that a crisis is a blessing, and even greater wisdom recognizes that blessings can also trigger a crisis. When we truly understand that, we’re less likely to be upset about our difficulties or elated about our opportunities; we remain centered no matter what happens around us. That is one of the secrets of self-mastery.

The Journey Continues

Surfing and bumming his way around California, John finds accommodation opposite a health-food store. He walks in to buy a carrot juice one day to find a man talking about philosophy and of course, he couldn’t help himself so he sat with this man and had a full on discussion with him.

They went on back to John’s house to exchange some more philosophy for martial arts lessons and the martial arts lessons weren’t the only thing John learned that day.

As this man was bating John to attack him, with every move John made he was beaten. He threw punches, kicked him and more and still, with very attempt, John still couldn’t touch him. So he stood back, out of breath and sweating and asked, okay, what’s the lesson here? The man replied, to a master, there is no such thing as attacks, only invitations to dance. But if you’re unsure, you always perceive yourself to be a victim of attacks.

Hmmm… now there’s something to think about. Another lesson in self-mastery.

Awesomeness

Some time after this, John went on to study physics, metaphysics, theology, biology… I think he has studied every “ology” there is to study, along with every religion there is – that’s about 3000 odd – and even more. The last 35 years of his life, John has devoted to learning and teaching the knowledge he has gained through his studies which he has then applied throughout his products. I do know he has a goal of reaching one billion people through his books and events, radio shows, courses he has written and so on. Now I don’t know about you but that is some extraordinary goal! Imagine having the ability and resources to reach one billion people! Pure awesomeness in my book.

Face Challenges Head On

The moral of the story is not to let what other people think of you hold you back. For every challenge you face there is an opportunity to grab hold of. That’s life. Everything is balanced. If Dr John Demartini had taken notice of his first grade teacher and believed he was dyslexic, it could have turned out differently and we would not know this wonderful teacher who has devoted his life to helping others. If those mentors had not crossed his path, he may have never learned how to read and taken an interest in philosophy. I really am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and we must take the challenges given us and turn them into an opportunity.

Two years ago I was introduced to Dr John Demartini at a Melbourne event and what he spoke about that night really resonated with me. Since then, I have read and studied John’s material and I am writing this special post to add to Jenny Mannions Heroes of Healing Group Writing Project.

Dr. John Demartini is a world leading behavioral expert, speaker and author at the forefront of the burgeoning personal and professional development industry.

He is a philosopher, teacher and healer and his purpose is to step foot on every country of this earth and help people realise they can be magnificent and live inspiring lives.

John has developed methodologies and principles to help people express love and not in a romantic way but in a universal understanding that there is synthesis and synchronicity of complimentary opposites and everything else is an illusion.

At age 7, his parents were told that he would never read, write or communicate so he turned to the sporting field. At age 14, he was a high school dropout and asked his parents if he could go surfing in California. They agreed and they dropped him off on the highway and sent him on his way.

This photo was taken at the Breakthrough Experience weekend I attended in Melbourne September 2006.

Today, John travels the world speaking on 300 days of the year and is very passionate about helping others to find a balance in their lives and have gratitude for everything they have which in turn lets them attract more of what they do want in their lives.

My most favourite Dr John Demartini quote is:

No Matter what I’ve done or not done, I’m worthy of Love

What Ange has learned from Dr John Demartini

What I have learned from Dr John Demartini is that Joy and Gratitude are the most important emotions we can have. All of us have different values in life and if something supports our values, we class them as good. If something challenges our values, we tend to avoid them. If our life is being supported, we feel joy and if it’s being challenged, we feel sorrow.

Sorrow is an assumption of a loss we are striving for and we suffer because what we strive for is unobtainable.

Joy and sorrow show up in every action and the synthesis and synchronicity of these these two emotions are fulfillment which is Love. Gratitude is when we can embrace joy and sorrow at the same time.

Method to Feeling of Gratitude

John taught me this really simple method on how to go about feeling gratitude which I will share with you. Before you go to bed at night, reflect and review your day and anything you can’t say thankyou for, look at it from a more whole perspective until you can. Then in your own mind, run through all the things you can be grateful for and don’t stop doing this until you have a tear of gratitude for all the areas of your life.

A tear of gratitude washes your mind from any delusion you may hold which you can then be grateful for. The moment you do this, go to your innermost being and ask for inner guidance like:

What mission do you have for me, what direction do you have for me, what am I supposed to do next?

Ask this series of questions every night and document your answers. Once you start doing this, your mission or purpose will become clear.

In the morning, then plan your day. Any details you leave out of your life, someone else will fill in so you might as well fill out the day the way you would love it to be so you know exactly what you are up for.

When the voice and the vision on the inside is louder and more profound than the opinions on the outside, then you begin to master your life and do something extraordinary and magnificent!

Here is a video of Dr John Demartini speaking about Gratitude.

First, let’s establish what Happiness is. When I searched wikipedia for Happiness, this is what it returned. “Happiness is an emotion associated with feelings ranging from contentment and satisfaction to bliss and intense joy.” There sure are a lot of words in there.

So how do we know the difference from feeling contentment, satisfaction, bliss and intense joy?

We all have our own perception of what happiness means to us. Our emotions are our own so for instance, if you were fired from your job today, it’s reasonable to think that you would not be experiencing the emotion of intense joy unless you perceived being fired as an opportunity to go forth and try something new.

According to a scientific study by Leicester University in England, the happiest country in the world is Denmark. And that’s despite having one of the highest tax rates in the world! They are paid to study. Imagine not having school fees for University! Apparently, the students can take as long as they like to complete their studies.

They are also paid to stay home in the form of paternal and maternal leave and this is paid by the government! That’s full time wages for 6 months if required.

If that’s what makes someone happy then why not!

Some of the things I think can cause a person to find happiness are:

some good friends who stick by you no matter what

a loving family who you enjoy being around

the freedom to choose when and where you work

the freedom to take a break anytime you like for holidays

the freedom to live where in the world you want to

your dream home

positive emotions

positive activities

quality of life

satisfaction in all things that you do

eating a delicious meal

playing with your children

hearing children’s laughter

listening to music that inspires you

dancing like no-one is watching

watching a funny movie

reading a good book

living in a state of gratitude

Every effect in your life has to start with a cause and for each of us it will be different. Making choices is what leads us to creating whether or not we find Happiness. Choosing what is right for you is key!

Too Many Choices

A couple of days ago I watched another TED video by Barry Schwartz which I found via Blonde2.0 Blog and thought about it for a while… then realised what he was talking about. Watch this!

Interesting… isn’t it? I’ll let you make up your own mind.

So what are your thoughts? Is it because we have too much choice nowadays that makes us un-happy or does it bring you happiness knowing that there are all these choices? Do you feel satisfied, contentment, bliss or intense joy having such a range of options available? Is it a state of mind perhaps!

Have you ever had one of those days where everything went WRONG and then it just snowballed onto many other things going WRONG? You are not alone! Stuff happens and if we let it get to us, of course the rest of the day follows in the same fashion.

If you have been reading my recent posts, you would know that I broke my wrist recently whilst trekking in Papua New Guinea and I have to tell you that it’s no fun learning to do things differently… namely, using my WRONG hand for everything. However, I put a positive spin on it and found that change is a good thing. It actually gets you to be more aware of the things you do and how you do them.

Sometimes, we get stuck in a rut and have difficulty getting out of it. Having a new thought can bring about the most amazing results due to the actions we take to do things differently. Have a think about that and see what you can do differently to bring about better results or rather, the results that you want to achieve and remain in a state of GRATITUDE!

I would like to share this Message from the Universe which I received today as I feel compelled to share it with you so here goes…

To: YOU
Date: TODAY
From: THE UNIVERSE
Subject: YOURSELF
Reference: LIFE

This is The Universe. Today I will be handling ALL of your problems for you. I do NOT need your help. So, have a nice day and have some fun… okay… and remember, I love you.

P.S. And also remember…

If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do NOT attempt to resolve it yourself! Kindly put it in the SFTUTD (something for the Universe to do) box. I will get to it AT THE RIGHT TIME. All situations will be resolved, but in UNIVERSAL time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad, think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemotherapy who wishes she had the hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities, remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Should you decide to share this with a friend or three, Thank you. You may have touched their life in ways you will never know!

Now, you go and have a nice day… THE UNIVERSE

So there is your inspiration for the day… now for your sake… GO AND HAVE A NICE DAY!

With all this talk about LOVE recently here at Buzzing with Ange, I wanted to bring something to your attention. If you love inspirational books, best selling author Kurek Ashley has just released his long awaited How Would Love Respond on Amazon. My copy is on order and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

I met Kurek a little over 18 months ago and listened as he told his story of how he went from acting the bad guy in Hollywood movies to becoming one of the most sort after speakers around the globe in his role as a Peak Performance Life Success Coach.

My good friend and mentor Sean Rasmussen met with Kurek for an interview where they discuss some very valid points in how to manage your thoughts and change some habits that could be holding you back from achieving your goals.

Here is part 1 of that interview.

Peak Perfomance Motivational Legend

Kurek also holds the record for the longest fire walk which took 4 minutes walking over 81 metres of hot coals! This is not to impress you, but to impress upon you that anything is achievable and I am taking Kurek’s words with me over the next 10 days while I trek the Kokoda Trail. Mindset is what will get me through each day. It’s about Personal Development and where I want to go with my life.

Where do you want to go with your life? Kurek Ashley’s book may be just the thing that helps you decide.

A short time ago I wrote that I Love You and it attracted some attention. I was sent this image by a friend and thought to use it here. How many times have you done something embarrassing or hurtful without intention to the one you LOVE? Now I’m sure this little fellow didn’t mean it however, things do go wrong sometimes in a relationship and it’s not that easy to get back in the good books of your beloved without having to sacrifice something unless you have a very understanding and committed partnership.

Being in a relationship or partnership brings quite a responsibility if you want it to work. Teamwork is the key. A relationship is a two sided affair so two people need to learn how to communicate with one another in an empowering way.

Relationships Require Commitment

The statistics of marriages breaking down and children growing up with only one biological parent in the home are forever increasing. Now, I am not saying that couples need to stay together for their children’s sake, and if husband and wife are not getting along and have outgrown each other, then it is better for them and their children for the couple to go their separate ways and in my opinion, after sourcing all avenues for help. What I would like to hear about is an increase in responsibilities and making sure that the children are adequately cared for, taught emotional intelligence, and to respect others when this does happen.

I am bringing this subject up because I went to dinner with some of the mothers from my daughters class last week and one of them was finishing off her teaching rounds at a particular school where the majority of children are being raised in a one biological parent home. A great number of these children learn independence at a very young age… as young as nine years old… perhaps even younger in some instances. They get themselves to school and back again as parents have to work to support the family. At my daughters school, most of the kids are dropped off by a parent, usually the mum as they are not at work.

The mother doing the teaching rounds went on to tell us of one child who had slapped a teacher across the face with an open hand and had been expelled from the school and this child hadn’t even turned 10 yet. This was only one incident among many others which she recounted to us that night and I can tell you that the stories weren’t pretty ones. Having said all that, these children will “grow up” faster than children who are lead by the hand in everything they do. Am I being harsh here? I like to teach my children independence and at the same time, respect for others.

It made me wonder and I cannot make any judgments as I do not know the child or her background. I can only surmise that this child is very unhappy and angry to perform such an action. It really made me sad to think that only 10 kilometres down the road their are children crying out for help and there is no-one available to guide and teach them. An I Love You wouldn’t go astray for this child and others like her. It would make a huge impact on her life in a positive way.

Am I making too many assumptions here because at our local school, their are many parents who get involved with their children’s schooling from dropping them off to reading with the children, to volunteering to help out in the classroom for literacy and numeracy lessons and then picking them up again? And don’t get me wrong, my daughters school is not perfect, but it does have a good reputation for being proactive with their curriculum and community. It is family orientated.

Your Thoughts

I would like your opinion please. Do you think it is easy nowadays for couples to separate without giving their relationship the work and commitment it requires to stay alive and strong? Do you spend time nurturing your children and at the same time, also teach them independence? I know there are great variances between children, but as a guide from some of the parents out there who have already been there so to speak… in your valued opinion, what have you tried that has worked with your kids and/or your relationship?

Dedicated to Success

What do these three little words mean anyway? We use them often for a variety of different reasons. Sometimes we use these words with our kids when showing affection. I think you know what I mean if you are a parent and you embrace a child… it seems only natural to say I Love You at the same time as the embrace, or it does for me with my kids.

When we are in the heat of passion with a husband/wife, girlfriend/boyfriend, or even someone we are in lust with, we can say these three little words… they seem to roll off the tongue quite easily under these circumstances don’t you think?

________I Love You____________I Love You__
_____I Love You Love_______I Love You I Love You
____I Love YouI Love Yo___I Love You Love You I Lov
___I Love You Love You Love You _______I Love I Love I
__I Love You I Love You I Love You I _________I Love You I
_I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love_______I Love You I
_I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You______I Love You
__I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Lo__I Love You
I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love
I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Lo
_I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You
__I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love
____I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love You I
_____I Love You I Love You I Love You I Love
______I Love You I Love You I Love You I
_______I Love You I Love You I Love I
________I Love You I Love You
__________I Love You I L
__________I Love You
_________I Love Y
_________I Love
________I Lo
_______I L

We say it to our folks and yet, for some reason, it doesn’t come all that easy to say to our siblings. Is this generalising? I’m not sure about you, but I only ever recall saying these words to my sister once and I have never told my brothers that I love them. Why is this?

I believe that unless some real bonding happens between siblings, the opportunity doesn’t arise all that often to say these words out loud, and it’s kind of an assumed understanding because unless you totally do not get along with your siblings, then the unspoken law suggests that we indeed love our siblings. But now, here is another thing.

I LOVE YOU can be used in more than one context! It has a different meaning when you are in love with someone than when you say it to a friend or relative. Those three little words certainly get around and are the most precious words you could hear. So today’s task is to be aware of how many times you say I LOVE YOU if at all and who you reference when saying it. I know I use it with my kids more than anyone else… maybe I need to pay more attention to my other half and let him know more often. Who is someone in your life that you could go up to right now and say these three little words too?
